Founded by President and CEO Chris Sannito, WildSource was born from his deep experience in Alaska’s seafood processing plants and his desire to build something that gave back to the community he called home.

Sannito’s vision quickly caught the attention of the Sun’aq Tribe of Kodiak, an Alutiiq people whose presence on the island stretches back more than 8,000 years. The Tribe’s investment in WildSource offered not only financial backing but also a shared mission—to reclaim a role in an industry that had long benefited outside interests more than Kodiak’s own Indigenous people. Since the Sun’aq Tribe took ownership, WildSource has grown exponentially, providing economic opportunity while ensuring that the region’s resources are managed with care and respect for the environment.

But the story of WildSource is also one of multicultural strength. Many of the company’s employees are members of Alaska’s vibrant Filipino community—known as Alaskeros—whose families have worked in the state’s canneries and on the waterfront for generations. Their skill, dedication, and deep connection to Alaska’s fishing heritage form the backbone of WildSource’s operations. “We’re mostly a Filipino workforce that is very well seasoned and represents generations of families who have worked on the waterfront,” says Sannito. “Because we’re able to pay a little bit higher wage, that is really attractive to them.”

This collaboration between the Sun’aq Tribe and the Filipino Alaskan community has created a truly unique model—one that blends cultures, honors tradition, and looks forward to a sustainable future.
