Grassland Farms
Grassland Dairy is a family-owned and operated organic dairy farm with a deep commitment to sustainable agriculture and responsible land stewardship. Founded in 2008 and owned by Brent Tillotson and his family, the farm is home to a herd of 250 Jersey cows raised on a rotational grazing system with a strong focus on animal welfare.
What sets Grassland Dairy apart is not just what they produce, but how they produce it. The farm operates under a comprehensive nutrient management plan that is updated annually, incorporating soil testing, crop requirements, and environmental conditions to guide nutrient and manure application decisions. Since its inception, the farm has invested in a range of best management practices — including waste separation and storage facilities, erosion control systems, and subsurface drainage — all designed to protect the surrounding environment and maintain the long-term health of the land.
Grassland Dairy is also working to incorporate cover crops into their corn production by planting a mix of cover crop species during cultivation — an approach aimed at improving soil health and reducing erosion on cropland.
Their dedication to conservation has not gone unnoticed. Grassland Dairy was named the Genesee County Soil and Water Conservation District's 2021 Conservation Farm of the Year — a prestigious recognition awarded to farms that lead by example and demonstrate a lasting commitment to sustainable practices.
At Grassland Dairy, farming isn't just a business — it's a responsibility to the land, the animals, and the community they call home.
