We are looking for a business manager to oversee our finances, human resources, customer relations, marketing, and business development.  The business manager reports directly to the company owners and will work closely with the operations manager to oversee staff and execute new initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized self-starter with previous management experience and a passion for local food.


Job Responsibilities

  • Business Development
    • Work with management team to develop a marketing plan and oversee execution
    • Research, plan and oversee new business opportunities
    • Develop strategic relationships to promote FreshFix within the community and ensure continued growth
    • Work with the operations team to improve processes and ensure proper execution of protocols
    • Generate reporting, share metrics and create recommendations for growth and cost savings
    • Liaison with partners and vendors
  • Staff Management
    • Oversee development of company-wide benefits policies and staff incentives
    • Manage hiring and onboarding of new staff
    • Create protocols and policies for customer service and other business processes
    • Meet regularly with staff to troubleshoot customer service issues and keep projects on track
    • Work with operations manager to ensure appropriate staffing
  • Financial and Inventory Management
    • Manage A/P and A/R and ensure balanced financial ledgers
    • Create and oversee processes for managing inventory and vendor payments
    • Run reports for audits, tax preparation and monthly review


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Passion for local food and food systems work
  • At least two years of experience managing people
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Experience using financial, organizational, and collaborative software including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business or related field
  • Experience with Google Analytics and other marketing tools
  • Experience using Quickbooks financial software
  • Experience working with produce or in the food sector

Start Date:
Expected June 30, 2022

Hours: Full time (40 hours/week)

Base Salary: $55,000-$85,000

The commitment is flexible and can range from 3-10 hours/week. The main requirements are that you have a car, that you are available for a few hours on Wednesday or Thursday afternoons and that you are care about bringing locally sourced fruits, vegetables and artisan food to your community.
