Position #1: Business Manager

We are looking for a business manager to oversee our online software platform, project management,  and business development.  The business manager reports directly to the company owners and will work closely with the operations manager to oversee staff and execute new initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized self-starter with previous management experience and a passion for local food.  Initially this position will focus heavily on transitioning our company to a new online commerce platform, but we expect the role to eventually focus largely on new business development.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Business Development
    • Research, plan and oversee new business opportunities
    • Develop strategic relationships to promote FreshFix within the community and ensure continued growth
    • Generate reporting, share metrics and create recommendations for growth and cost savings
    • Liaison with organizational partners
  • Staff and Project Management
    • Manage hiring and onboarding of new staff
    • Create protocols and policies for customer service and other business processes
    • Meet regularly with staff to troubleshoot customer service issues and keep projects on track
    • Work with operations manager to ensure appropriate staffing
    • Oversee development of company-wide benefits policies and staff incentive
  • Software Management
    • Determine software best suited to meet business needs
    • Oversee transition to new software
    • Train staff and create protocols for how FreshFix uses software

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Passion for local food and food systems work
  • At least two years of experience managing people
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Experience using financial, organizational, and collaborative software including Microsoft Office Suite

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business or related field
  • Experience with online commerce software
  • Experience working with produce or in the food sector
  • Experience writing and managing grants

 

Hours: Full time (40 hours/week)

Base Salary: $60,000-$85,000

Position #2: Produce Packing Coordinator and Delivery Driver

FreshFix is a small family-owned business that works with local farmers and producers to aggregate produce and other locally produced food items and delivers custom boxes to homes and workplaces in Western New York. We are hiring a full-time person to help with produce packing and delivery. We would like to hire someone who has an interest in the mission of the business and would like to grow with us.

Responsibilities:

- Drive to farms in the region to pick-up produce

- Receive and check produce orders for accuracy

- Pack food boxes for home delivery and wholesale orders

- Load delivery vehicle

- Deliver orders, businesses, non-profits and homes/offices

- Deliver and work produce markets during the week as needed

- Ensure orders are filled accurately

  • Maintain coolers, warehouse, delivery vehicles and other equipment

Requirements:

- Attention to detail

- Good interpersonal and communication skills

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

- Clean driving record

- Experience driving a box truck or other large vehicle is a plus!

Hours: Full-time hourly. We are looking for someone who can be available for about 36-40 hours per week Monday - Friday.

Salary: $18-21 per hour

Position #3: Community Coordinator

We are looking for community coordinators who can help bring fresh, local produce to their neighbors or coworkers!  All community coordinators are paid for their work and can also earn free produce.  The commitment is flexible and can range from 3-6 hours/week. The main requirements are that you have a car (for home delivery), that you are available to help with deliveries on Wednesday or Thursday afternoons and that you are passionate about bringing fresh, local food to your community and providing excellent customer service.  

 

Responsibilities:<

  • Customer service (respond to customer questions/concerns by e-mail and/or text)
  • Organize delivery route stops on Mondays
  • Delivery Day (2-3 hours) 
  • Receive boxes at pickup location or at your house  
  • Check for accuracy and quality of produce 
  • Ensure that add-ons are organized and delivered correctly with customer orders 
  • Communicate any delivery issues to area manager in a timely manner for customer follow up 
  • Utilize delivery app to deliver boxes, provide photo verification, pick-up empties, and track returned boxes 
  • Store empty boxes until following week 
  • Attend occasional meetings with FreshFix management team 
  • Possible opportunities to work other sales or member events as well as do marketing/advertising (distributing flyers, sending e-mails, attending community events) 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Positive attitude, customer service skills, and problem solving skills 
  • Punctuality - must arrive at the HUB or meet the delivery truck on time and ready to work 
  • Able to quickly respond to e-mails and/or text messages 
  • Able to answer customer e-mails and/or text messages within 24 hours during non-delivery days 
  • Able to answer customer e-mails and/or text messages as soon as possible on delivery day 
  • Able to answer within 2 hours the day following delivery 
  • Able to work flexible hours depending on the weekly workload 
  • Comfortable working inside and outside in all weather conditions 
  • Able to lift and carry numerous boxes weighing on average 10-15 lbs each 
  • Reliable cell phone and internet access, and ability to navigate basic driver website and app 
  • Dependable delivery vehicle (not applicable for workplace deliveries) 
  • Provides a copy of personal auto insurance and valid driver’s license  
  • Must be comfortable driving in all weather conditions 

 

Position and Compensation: This is an Independent Contractor position, and commissions are paid based on delivery area, number of boxes delivered per week, and customer tips.  


Position #4: Community Outreach and Delivery Coordinator


Community outreach and delivery coordinators will be responsible for engaging Buffalo communities with limited access to fresh food. The goal of this position is to inform, educate, and engage community members around local food, specifically fresh fruits and vegetables. Coordinators will create an open dialogue with customers to ensure that FreshFix is helping make it easy for them to get the foods they want and need.  
 

 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Identify and attend community events geared at outreach and education in order to make FreshFix (and local produce in general) more available to a wider group of customers.  
  • Educate potential and existing customers about where their food comes from and the importance of supporting the local food system when possible.  
  • Build relationships with current and potential FreshFix members and understand their needs. 
  • Deliver orders within the City of Buffalo using FreshFix vehicle and technology. 
  • Assist new and existing members with using the FreshFix system to bridge any accessibility gaps with technology when necessary; accept orders by phone as needed 
  • Learn and utilize system for accepting SNAP/EBT payments. 
  • Lead by example by being positive about FreshFix and WNY agriculture, as well as systems and procedures that are in place to provide a good experience for our members. 


Required Skills
 

  • Excellent customer service skills 
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. 
  • NYS driver’s license and clean driving record; willing to drive a van

Hours: Full or part-time (minimum 10 hours/week). Schedule is flexible; however, availability on Wednesday and Thursday is required; occasional night and weekend hours may be required for attending community events. 

 

Pay rate: $18-$20/hour
