Pittsford Farms Dairy
Some dairies have a history. Pittsford Farms Dairy has a legacy stretching back more than two centuries.
The landmark dairy property traces its origins back to 1814, when Samuel Hildreth built his home and established a stagecoach operation and livery business in the heart of what would become the historic village of Pittsford. Over the decades that followed, the property changed hands and grew in stature. In the 1860s, the farm was acquired by prominent Rochester businessman and politician Jarvis Lord, who combined three farms into one — a consolidation that gave the dairy the "S" in its current name. Lord eventually sold the farm to the Hawley family, who formally founded the dairy operation in 1888. During the Hawley era, the farm earned national recognition for its introduction of scientific agriculture and its outstanding herds of Jersey cattle and Shetland ponies.
Since 1946, the dairy has been owned and operated by the Zornow/Corby family — stewards of not just a farm, but a piece of New York State history. Pittsford Farms Dairy is Pittsford's oldest operating business, and the property has retained its historic appearance while remaining a working farm to this day.
What makes Pittsford Farms Dairy remarkable isn't just its age — it's the integrity behind every bottle. Raw milk is sourced from three to four local farms, all within 30 miles of Pittsford, from herds of 100 to 125 head that are grass-fed in spring, summer, and fall, and fed non-GMO hay in winter. From there, the process is as careful and unhurried as the farm's long history. The milk is vat-pasteurized using low heat and goes from raw milk to bottle in just three hours — a testament to freshness that mass-produced dairy simply cannot replicate.
The result is milk that tastes the way milk is supposed to taste — clean, rich, and genuinely local. Whether you're pouring it over cereal, stirring it into your morning coffee, or simply drinking a cold glass straight, Pittsford Farms Dairy delivers something that has been worth savoring for well over 200 years.
