Butter Tarts, Saskatoon Berry

Butter tarts are a Canadian staple and one of the most popular Canadian desserts. Flaky pastry and a gooey buttery filling made with real maple syrup, butter, and brown sugar.

This version has a layer of Saskatoon berry jam, which is very flavorful and hard to find outside of the plains of Saskatchewan in Canada. The Saskatoon berry is native to North America and similar to a blueberry but with a slightly almondy flavor. We think they go great in a butter tart!

Ingredients: Flour, butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, maple syrup, Saskatoon berry jam (Saskatoon berries, sugar, pectin), shortening, apple cider vinegar, vanilla extract, salt
